Finding Secure & Stable Housing
The Housing Assistance Program is for people who are at risk of becoming homeless or who are chronically homeless. Case managers and housing specialists work with the individuals to search for and secure stable housing. The Housing Assistance Program uses several housing stabilization programs and grants to serve their clients.
How to Spot a Housing Crisis
The Housing Assistance Program helps people in a housing crisis.
Signs of a housing crisis include:
- Facing a lease termination.
- Notified of eviction court dates.
- Couch surfing.
- Doubled up.
- Domestic violence.
- Loss of housing due to fire or flood.
- Utility shut off notice.
We utilize a variety of state & local programs to serve our clients, including the following:
Rental Assistance for Tenants
RAFT is a state-funded program that provides up to $7,000 per 12-month period & up to $1,500 for utilities to address housing crises. (Subject to change.)
Continuum of Care
Provides comprehensive case management & work skills training to increase income potential. Eligible individuals & families are referred by the state’s coordinated entry list. Funds available for first & last month rent, leasing, moving costs, furniture & utility deposits.
The Lawrence Public Schools Homelessness Initiative
A resource for families of students facing a housing crisis. Offers direct staff support and guidance with referrals to services to improve housing stability.
Home Funds with North Andover & Amesbury
Income-based rental assistance funded by the Towns of North Andover & Amesbury for residents, people employed there, or who have children enrolled in the schools & wish to relocate to the town.
370 Essex St. Program
GLCAC, in collaboration with Trinity Management, provides case management and supportive services to 12 households residing in affordable units at 370 Essex St. in Lawrence. These units are subsidized through Section 8 and the Massachusetts Rental Voucher Program.
